Deaging is fascinating.

Apparently, deaging changes your costume too.

“I can’t marry you, Steve!”

“I can, however, take time out of my busy crime fighting schedule to go bowling with you.”

Oh my.
This caption is fetish-tastic.

Indestructible high heels. Oh my.

I can’t find the SD card I keep the blog stuff on. It must have popped out of the Treo while I wasn’t looking. Boy I hope it’s hanging around my apartment and not on the street somewhere.
I have backups, of course. It just means that I can’t blog on my commute today.
Thank you to everyone who sent donations to the blog.
Also, I’ve finished reading Wonder Woman and am now reading Thor. Wow. No-one ever told me the Lee/Kirby Thor was so good! Never been a Thor fan per se, but this is outstanding. Not as many goodies as WW, but far more of a “wow” factor when reading.
On the topic of WW, I have to say that as much as I’m picking on Steve Trevor here, I need to say one thing: Man has he had a hard career. Poor guy gets his head messed with by the Princess on a daily basis, gets shot, dies, comes back in a new identity and gets kidnapped by the feds, dies AGAIN, is replaced by an alternate Earth self whose mind is wiped by Athena so he’ll think he’s Earth-1 Steve, and finally has WW propose and leave him at the altar. And that’s all pre crisis!
He and Lois Lane should start a club – adult victims of superdickery.
Image post later today. Peace.
Oh, and PS, someone is sending me a G4 Cube to replace my dying G4 PCI graphics, and another friend is sending me an old clamshell iBook. all I need to do now is get Cingular to honor the warante on my Treo 650 and all is gold, tech-wise.
Friends, real ones, rock.

Diana is upset because Steve only likes her as Wonder Woman.

Wait, Steve’s two-faced? He’s being honest. You’re the one hiding behind a pair of glasses.

How dumb is he?

“Gee, Diana goes into the coat and Wonder Woman comes out. Oh look…something shiny!”

I’m really trying to figure out what Diana sees in this guy.

The blog got a mention on a Wonder Woman Scholars e-mail list! Neat.

First, as per one of yesterday’s comments, a look at Silver Age Amazon “culture”.
One of the really great things about the Golden Age Wonder Woman is how they live on this cool, ancient island.
So of course, when it came time to update her for the Silver Age, they jettisoned it.
Let’s look at some Silver Age Amazon Culture! Keep in mind these scenes are all in flashbacks from when Diana was a teenager.

A “perfume geyser”? As in it shoots up from the ground, right? That’s going to sting, no?

So Diana’s childhood room was in a Motel 6?

Would a culture that’s been separated from man’s world for centuries have shades? In “current” style?

What an interesting family Etta Candy had….

Her dad’s name was “Hard”(I don’t want to know how he earned that) and her mom was “Sugar”. I figure the odds were stacked against her.

So like I mentioned, Wonder Girl was originally a younger Wonder Woman, and the stories were flashback.
What was really odd is that, thanks to the Amazon Time Viewer, she knows she’s going to be Wonder Woman dome day (which makes us wonder why they bothered having a contest in the first place).
Seeing her older self perform amazing acts of heroism has an odd impact on her psche:

That’s right, she’s jelous of herself.
That’s very, very healthy.

…Hypolita is worried about young Diana*.

If this story was out today, it would be about an eating disorder and last eight issues.
*Yes, that’s Diana, not Donna. Wonder Girl was originally Diana as a teenager.
