I Think I’ve Discovered Something.

Apr 30, 2007 in Creepy Relationships, Thor, What Were They Thinking

I always wondered what faith Reed Richards was a member of.

Thor #302 reveals the answer.

Clearly Reed is a devotee of some sort of Loki cult that demands one treat one’s spouse like crap.

It explains Civil War too.

Also…

More Fun with Wagner.

I just cannot see this sequence getting past the censors at the Comic Code Authority.

Kind of makes you wonder what else happens between issues, eh?

It Was Bound To Happen.

The fight we’ve all been waiting for, folks!

Thor vs Jesus!

Unwanted Popularity.

This site must be more popular than I’d thought.

Judging by the comment spam, anyway.

Sheeesh.

Anyone know any good bot blockers for WP?

Apr 26, 2007 in Sexism, What Were They Thinking, Wonder Woman

What is Wonder Woman staring at her that makes her say what she says?

Note how she’s on her knees surrounded by leering men.

This cover looks like it was traced off of some sort of submissive pornographic image.

Early Greg Land, maybe?

Took 19 longboxes out of storage, plus a few boxes o’ random comics. I’m going to sort and sell them…eventually.

Poor Hougun.

Ever wonder why he was called “The Grim”?

He’s the only Asguardian without a woman fawning over him.

Even Loki has a lady friend.

That’s gotta sting.

Plus there’s the fact that the lady on Volstagg’s lap is not Mrs. Volstagg or just the inherent sexism of the image, what with Sif always protesting that she’s an equal warrior to Thor and now acting like a common serving wenchÂ…

Come Again?

What “own country”? Wonder Woman’s not an American.

It just occurred to me that pre-Crisis Wonder Woman is an illegal alien.

I’m nowhere near out of Thor panels. I just felt like some variety today.

The Golden Apple Falleth Not Far From the Tree.

Apr 23, 2007 in Racism, Thor, What Were They Thinking

At last, we see where Thor gets his bigotry.

Odin.

“Yes, they sure can work, the filthy savages.”

Chocolate:Peanut Butter as Roy Thomas: Wagner?

Apr 20, 2007 in Creepy Relationships, Thor, What Were They Thinking

No, not really.

Thomas’ attempt to retcon The Ring of the Nibelung into Thor is confusing as heck for many reasons, the most basic beingÂ… why?

Well, clearly, what Thor had lacked up until then was that all important backstoryÂ… incest.

For those unfamiliar with Wagner, here’s a far more blatant admission about what happens after the above panel:

Hundig is Sieglinde’s husband. Ergo, Siegmund aka Thor dist lie with his own sister.

Yes, that’s exactly what Thor needed.

Three for Thorsday.

Working The Crowd.

E’en a thunder god must maketh time for his adoring public!

This “hammer touching” business sounds vaguely unwholesome, don’t you think?

Here’s Some Good Strategy

When in battle, announce your previously unknown weakness to your foe!

Thor should take a cue from Rex Tyler and call himself “Minute Man”!

Although that may cut down on his female fans.

Peter Parker is a Slow Learner.

Yes, because ignoring other’s problems worked out so well for you before, Peter.

“Don’t look at me, I’m just an actor.”

This is a Joke, Yes?

I cannot imagine anyone was expected to take this cover seriouslyÂ…

Imagine if Stiltman had pulled it off. Can’t you just picture the conversation in Valhallah’s Hall of Heroes?

“I died fighting the hordes of Hela! How died you, friend?”

“My life was ended saving a maiden fair from a dread beast. Surely though, none of our deaths can compare to that of the great god Thor!”

The Hall goes silent as all turn to look at the Odinson.

“IÂ… I didst get slain by Stiltman.”

Pal Matt Allgren made a “My Hammer Swings Only for JUSTICE!” T-Shirt. Does anyone want a link?
