Now, as far as super hero comics go, physics are kind of… fluid. You have to have a certain amount of suspension of disbelief. However, spy comics are not the same thing.

I’m writing this on Friday, as I will likely not be online at all today. Today is the eve of Yom Kippur and I’ve much to do. called the Day of Atonement, it is the day my people believe we are judged for our actions in the past year. I know not everyone shares my belief system and some might find it silly, but I would still like to take a moment to ask forgiveness.
If I have offended, caused harm, slighted, or ridiculed any of my readers in any way, be it knowingly or unknowingly, be it with deliberate snark or inadvertently, I ask your forgiveness. I deal with content people may find offensive, and sometimes my sense of humor falls flat (especially this year, it seems, as the site has bled readers).
To any comic book creators or the families thereof whose work has been featured here who may have been offended, I’m sorry. I’m discussing the ideas in the panels through the lens of today, and there’s a huge disconnect. It’s a harsh take, but it is not aimed at the people.
And I’d like to apologize in advance to Steve Englhart, because at some point this year I will hopefully get up to his Green Lantern run (again), and I fear it might get harsh. Sorry man.
There will be no post tomorrow, in “observance” of the holiday.
Peace.

Tex Thomson was a pre-”superhero” character of National’s, who would go on to become a superhero, the patriotic Mr. America (also known as the Americommando). Before (and after) donning a domino mask, Tex would travel the world, looking for adventure with his best buddy, Bob “Fatman” Daley. I’ve mentioned them before, due to their penchant for sharing a bed. However, it seems Bob’s balding, fat, and subtextual nature was not enough for the writers, so they added a second comic relief sidekick. One I did not know of until recently. (more…)
