Pictures From The Storm Part 2

That tree is almost directly across from me. Had it fallen to the East instead of to the West, it likely would have taken out some of my house. Instead if just toor the pavement up.

This is the tree that knocked out my power. See the half of utility pole dangling in the foreground?

Still In The Dark.

Mar 17, 2010 in Uncategorized

My house is still without power. We’ve now been dark for four days and change. They allegedly cleared the tree that took out the powerlines yesterday and one estinare has us getting power back this afternoon.

On Monday when we went back to rescue stuff, the area looked horrible. Smashed cars, fences, and even houses. One house narrowly escaped getting totaled, but the tree actually blocked off the front door. Almost every side street was cut off, and a couple of main ones – and that was two days after!

I hope to be back to blogging soon.

Rain Delay.

My township of New Jersey is presently in a State of Emergency. Large areas have no power, including my block. There are downed wires everywhere, and the fallen trees have caused massive property damage and two deaths.

In light of this, I might not get around to posting today. I’ll try though.

Peace to you all.

A Little Moment of Win

Dec 05, 2009 in Uncategorized

I apologize for the lack of WWTT post this Friday – I’m in transit and without my files.

I spent the Sabbath in Worchester, MA at the local Chabbad. My father is speaking there Saturday night and I came along. The Rabbi of the Chabbad Synagogue is 90 years old, and one of the first American Shlichim (outreach emissary).

On the way home from synagogue he was telling us about growing up and his childhood friend, Yaakov Weinberg, late Rosh HaYeshiva (headmaster) of Ner Israel (my eldest brother’s alma mater). It seems Rabbi Fogelman and Rav Yakov were childhood chums.

“I would get these magazines, Doc Savage and The Shadow, and I would be all excited and tell Yakov how great they are and he would say ‘balony!’.”

My father is having a hard time understanding my glee at imagining these two rabbis as little kids, arguing over which pulp hero was cooler.

Shot in the dark, but I don’t suppose anyone has a batter for a 15″ Powerbook G4 Model M8407?

Sigh.

Four Day Weekend

Nov 20, 2009 in Uncategorized

Sorry gang, but I was out late at a press event, getting content for MoPocket.com. No WWTT time tonight. I can’t promise anything before the weekend.

Played with some neat tech tonight though, including Sony’s upcoming Android phone. Sweeeeeet.

Late Post Today

Nov 10, 2009 in Uncategorized

I should have written some stuff up today, but a combination of work drama, a facy new cell, and NaNoWriMo got in the way.

Oh and Happy Birthday to my father, who never reads this. If not for his influence, I would not be the human rorsach test I am today.

So blame him.

Sunday Shill: Planet karen

Nov 01, 2009 in Uncategorized

I love web comics, and Planet Karen is one of my favorites. Formerly at girlwonder.com and now at planetkaren.co.uk, it’s a fun “slice of life” type of comic. Creator Karen Ellis has a real gift for dialogue and comedic timing, and her art is just great.

They’ve just announced the first print collection, complete with introduction by Gail Simone (Wonder Woman, Secret Six, Deadpool).

Explore Planet Karen. You’ll be glad you did.
