Right. Wonder Woman. Realistic. Did anyone ever talk like that in real life? Something else odd on this page… That’s the biggest darn baby I’ve ever seen. Although, considering the writer’s various fetishes, one wonders if that’s meant to be a baby at all…
The one I posted before isn’t as good as this gem… They just don’t make covers like this one anymore. For the record, that’s not just any caricatured African tribesman there. That’s a Nazi African tribesman. Really. Inside the comic they’re walking around with swastikas and everything. Very jarring.
I confess, I did not know that there were Irish Gypsies until I read Wonder Woman #28 and then looked it up on Wiki. Still, looking at this story I have to wonder: Do Irish Gypsies actually dress in stereotypical Rom garb? And have Rom-esque names? Anyone?
Let’s see how the colonist’s descendants honor the culture that helped them survive in a new land… It gets worse. Read the fine print! Can’t break character when we’re stereotyping the aboriginals, now can we? White people suck.
While I love the Hitler Dangling, check out the gentleman on the left. Talk about demonizing your opponent. It’s okay folks, there was a war on!
I just read Metamorpho volume 1 and only found one panel. Maybe because all the zaniness and craziness and fun in that title was deliberate (what a concept!). It’s a decent one though. “Ha-ha! Yes! We take what we want! For we are BAD! Because we are NOT AMERICAN!” I miss the Cold War, don’t […]
Heres a touching PC (and logical) moment: And heres a not so touching moment! So what do white people smell like? Mayonnaise?
Am I the only one who’s never heard this terminology? Red with rage, yes. Green with envy, okay. But black with hatred? Anyone?
More like laughter, actually. I can’t even type his name. I’m laughing too hard. Still, I did love his JLU appearance. That was neat.
Wth titles like this, how can we not consider it the Golden Age? You couldn’t get away with this nowadays. Of course, you couldn’t get away with the following either: Okay, so maybe there’s a drop of tarnish….
Don’t you miss the good old day when one could get away with teasing other races in public like that?
A forgotten member of Caps rouges gallery: I wonder if well be seeing him in the new series. Â
Billy Batson was an everyman. After all, what orphan doesnt have a job in radio that lets him travel the country without adult supervision? And of course, theres his valet. Yes, thats right, Billy had a slave. Sure, they call him a valet, but hes a slave. Theres a great story with his grandmother, Steamboat […]
Oh dear, this is going to get a reaction: That’s right folks, if you want to disguise yourself, use some burnt cork. But remember… …be sure to get the dialect right. Like I said, oh dear.
So in FF #126 they did a reprint of the team’s origin. For some reason, they retconned out Sue’s comment about “beating the Reds to the moon”and instead say “foreign power”. But then they make it worse: The hell? There’s a side of Ben Grimm we didn’t know about before.
One I like to call “When Comics and Politics Clash!” Thank G-d this didn’t last.
I’m not kidding. I actually did a spit-take when I saw this. Not from laughter, but from shock. Braced? You cannot expect me to believe that the word “gook” was okay to use in polite society, even back then. And surely you don’t expect me to believe that Lee and Kirby didn’t know what it […]
I tried looking this up, but all I could find were all these apologist pages saying “No, it’s really a JUICE harp!”
From the inside cover ad of Action Comics # 103, we give you the new Brownie Flash Six 20! Lets you photograph all those childhood moments! Even those you’d rather have forgotten. Happy MLK day everyone.
Since today’s original post was given away in the comments, I decided to post a second. Ready for a blast from the past? Does anyone remember this? The BQ Test! (BQ = Brotherhood Quotent) This test frightens me. It really does. Mainly because “Jewsâ€, “Negros†and “Catholics†are on the same like/dislike test as “alligators†[…]
Horrible accents aside, isn’t that just the best nickname? Sounds vaguely unwholesome, too!
LoSH # 216 will always hold a special place in my heart. You see, that’s the issue where someone apparently realized that in the several decades since the Legion showed up, there basically had been an utter absence of anyone in the comic who was not Caucasian (No, green and blue do not count) Karate […]
Prease tell DC Asian People no talky like thisy! And to make things worse, this goes on for two more issues. There’s even one Asian character who talks “good Engrishâ€â€¦ because she went to an American College, of course. Which they forget whenever they want her to sound cute and “ethnicyâ€. Worst Flash storyline. Ever.
Beating His WHAT? Panel is from IM 38 Why oh WHY is this the first thing that springs to Tony Stark’s mind? Oh, and by the way, the issue is that he’s an ex-con. But he’s an ex-con because he’s poor and black, and if you were a Black Marvel Character in the early years, […]
