It’s interesting just how much Poison Ivy has changed since her first appearance.

They know that Robin. This is their chance.

Tired of having to hide his acrobatic gifts while in his normal everyday guise (because it wouldn’t make sense for a former circus performer to be good at athletics), Dick (Robin) Grayson makes an alternative ID for himself.

Witness Bat-Girl and Robin’s idea of a good time for an example of just how much being a sidekick messed you up.

Forgive me for forgetting the details of how, but in #153 Batman and Batwoman are split into normal and energy selves (much like Batman’s archfoe Dr. Double X). The energy selves are on another world, and their fleshy bits are on Earth. This Does Not Bode Well.

Here’s a reoccurring theme: Batman finds happiness, and Robin is a whiny little brat about it:

Apparently, Dick is under the impression that Bruce having a wife means his young ward heads back to the orphanage.
Here are some gems from the actual story:

“Get back in the bat-kitchen and make me a bat-wich, woman!”

“And even if her face isn’t so great, if she has a nice body, I’ll forgive her. That’s why G-d made capes and cowls, old chum!”
So Bruce marries Kathy, but never tells her he’s Batman (apparently he went to the Barry Allen School of Marriage). Eventually he decides to tell her, in the most melodramatic way possible. Oh, and he’s an ass. Here’s the whole page in question:

All that glorious, glorious condescension… love it.
Hey, by Batman’s own logic… what if Robin were unmasked?

There is, of course, nothing actually wrong with the relationship between Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson. It’s fun to make jokes, but we all know it’s a father/son dynamic and nothing more.
The thing is, with panels like the one below, I have to wonder if the Powers That Be at DC wanted that subtext.

Shared bedroom, silk PJs… come on!
Of course, the next panel, taken out of context, is solid gold!

“My word…” indeed.

Dan Quayle wasn’t to blame:

He learned how to spell from comic books.
