One of the problems with the Flash is that realistically, a normal crook against a super speedster is going to end up beaten to a pulp (or stripped to his underwear, as the case may be) before he can blink. Writers have two ways of dealing with it. Some ignore it to service the story, and then some try to think of ways around the problem.

What’s interesting is that Jay takes the time to become a detective instead of just solving the murder.
