Another Martian Power

Did you know Martians have been to Earth before?

That’d be Martian Walking on Water Power.

Wait.

Oh my – well, not mine, but someone’s – G-d!

(Take a shot of water or wine, your choice)

  • Paradox

J’onn, you moron, you can FLY! Why get anywhere NEAR the water?

    Maybe he’s stuck to it MAG…no, no, can’t go there…. ;)

    OH MY … MARTIAN !!!

“I must remember to stay away of flames, so I’m gonna save pets from water instead of babies from fire.”

Well, of course Jesus is a Martain. Haven’t you ever read Stranger in a Strange Land?

  • Megalon

He’s really just showing off at this point.

  • Jeff

Ok this one really is magnetic. The soles of his feet are magnetically repelling the electrons in the surface of the water.

I just love how the dog is looking at the reader, as if saying “Can you believe this shmuck?”

  • George C

You just know J’onn gives Superman a hard time… “HA! Kryptonians are LAME! They have SO FEW powers!”

  • corando gallegos

So what does being a master sleuth from Mars have to do with saving a dog from drowing?…….

  • Clarkins

    Was the dog drowning?

  • Diagnull

I don’t think the dog is drowning. I’m pretty sure where seeing two powers at once: walking on water, and Martian Dog Washing power!

  • Maniac Doc

Wait, if he nullified Earth’s gravitational field, what’s keeping him down on the water in the first place? He should be floating around like an astronaut in zero-g space…oh, dear, I do believe that was my brain breaking again.

  • Jon Snow

And what is keeping the bridge and the water connected to the ground? Brain… go… BOOM!

  • onion3000

I assume the Martian Doghunter has used a very localised ‘nullifying’ of gravity that effects himself, and not the bridge or water. But, it must extend to the wet dog too, as j’onn’s still just on the surface of the water and not getting wet socks.
It’s a very complex mathematical problem, the Martian solving of which makes him the same weight as the ambient atmosphere (within that same ambient atmosphere)… and is therefore not simply a ‘nullification’ of gravity.
Imagine an iron ball twenty feet across, hollowed, and containing a vacuum. It would float in air (if the iron were thin enough) but, oddly, would crash to the ground on the Moon.

I agree the dog looks cross.

  • Maniac Doc

That’s a very specific superpower. That must be why he never uses them more than once.

Maybe J’onn is like that character they used once in Doom Patrol. She had every power you didn’t think of.

  • Amake

Nah, only Grant Morrison could think up someone like The Quiz. But then again, I wouldn’t put it past him to go back in time. . .

My God walks on water … and … is from Mars.

    And has a hammer.
