Science!!!

Ah, All Star Comics #3 – you may be my favorite recent read. You’ve given me so much.

Like this little image:

So apparently, Meteor’s look like the logo for NBC’s “The More You Know…”?

And from the next panel:

L-Dimension? Is that where “L-rays come from? Or is The Spectre taking a shortcut through L-Space?

And the L-Dimension appears to be patterned after Wonder Woman's shorts.

You have to love the idea of bright, flat, “star” shaped meteors (which always look towards us so that we can see their beautiful shape) doing inter-dimensional journeys with tights clad guys hanging from them.

The scene in panel two reminds me (apart from WW's shorts) of the “Starcrash” movie, a -very- cheesy italian space-opera of the late 70's with David Hasselhoff doing a supporting role: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzfuNSpP0RA

Who the hell is Oom? Did the good doctor lose his D?

  • LittlePig

Pinocchio: “But that one has some weird guy in Spandex hanging on it!”

Jeminy: “Just make the wish already, kid”

  • Naryldor

    LOL!

“Oom” is the Dutch word for “uncle”. I'm guessing some family feud.

  • Dierna

Meanwhile in Care-a-lot the Care Bears stare in horror as a giant flying human tries to capture one of the star buddies…

  • AuroraMoon

Funny, the word made me think of “fantastic planet”, in which humans were called Oms. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fantastic_Planet .

  • http://sezaarsez.wordpress.com/ sezaar

It's pronounced different, “oom” is pronounced as “Ohm” with the stress/emphasis on the “o” whereas”oms” is a wordplay on “hommes” with the stress/emphasis on “ms”. :-)
    (Sorry for the boring lecture)

Why are their clouds in space? Don't you need like an atmosphere? And doesn't a metero travel at a vast speed so in order to be able to grab it, the Spectre already needed quick reflexes so why does he need a meteor to begin with?

And he does look chubby in the first panel…

  • Anderson

    She blinded me with science…

  • Dierna

There's clouds in space. Just watch Star Trek! Heck the explination for the different coloured kryptonite is that they went thru different coloured space clouds on their way to earth. *lol*

Gas clouds, those are different from the ones we see here! :-p

Gas clouds like the one in the second panel sure, but they are different from those in the first panel! :-p
