Guys & Dolls

Zatara is searching for an explorer. He was exploring a jungle (where, mysteriously, there are both “savage” type natives and “arabs”) to find the Missing Link. He finds both, but there’s something curious going on:

Male Missing Link:

Hairy, dark, somehow speaks broken English.

Female Missing Link:

White, blond, clearly shaves her legs, and speaks with perfect elocution.

Say wha?

Although props to the Links for being a Matriarchal society, one supposes.

I'm not sure what kind of message to take away from this. Are they objectifying women to a ridiculous extent? Are they saying that men are savages?

In my head Tong has the voice of Radio 1 DJ Pete Tong

But before the weakened Tong can start to his feet ...

Umm ... Tong's standing up in the previous frame. He sure looked ready to fight!
  • I dunno. I've met a few couples with the same differences.

@Seezar: That's what a matriarchial society does for you.
  • They walk in loincloths, use clubs and speak poor English (at least the males) yet they were able to build a city, have a structured society, now how to make metal doors, stairs,... Oh and they are called the "link men" :-D
  • Naryldor
They also seem to have some skills on female fashion clothing, hairdos and jewelry.

BTW, Is there a link between the link-men (no pun intended) and the Inuits? Because igloos and that structure on top of the link-men's fortress look kind of similar to me...
  • Wizard
I wouldn't read too much into that, since domes are a pretty common building style.

My question is, why can't that poor primitive link man even tell the difference between a club and an axe?
  • Dierna
Yeah but what is she gonna sacrifice the man she loves, whom she just now met, to?
  • No, I think she's saying a man like Zatara, not Zatara himself. Then again, he does have a strange way with the ladies. Like that Girls Gone Wild guy. Now that one I can't wrap my head around. Oh, right, alcohol.
