Tom is clearly in love with Hal.

He keeps a scrapbook, pines after him flying off into battle, and just overall acts like that girl in high school who copies her notes for her crush.

It’s like he’s just sitting there waiting for him to realize Carol is all wrong for him.

you might just have something there. otherwise, why would a supposedly skilled engineer put up with so much racism from somebody who was clearly a moron? He must had been so mesmerized by Hal’s fantastic ass that he decided that it canceled out everything, even the fact that Hal was an idiot.
