I Have Said This Before and Will Say It Again.
Starman’s “Gravity Rod” may be the most phallic weapon in illustrated fiction , unless someone has written a story featuring a nunchuck made out of two marital aids (and if no-one has, dibs on that horrible idea).
Just look at it!

Want a closer view? You know you do.

Allowing for a Mohel with a bit of flair, that looks amazingly like phallus. Add to it that it’s a magic rod that Ted Knight keeps in his pants, whips out to solve every problem, and that it shoots powerful beams, and it makes me think I should have gone with my alternate title for this blog “Maybe Wertham Was Right…”.
I mean for goodness sake…

It vibrates!

I dunno… It kinda looks like a Sonic Screwdriver to me…

Do video games count as visual fiction? You can use a huge purple dildo as a bludgeoning weapon in some of the Grand Theft Auto games.

It sure does. of course the difference is that The Doctor never had an phallic-looking head thing attached to it.
lol

So, the “Gravity rod” vibrates when the boss gives a “desperate call”… for what?

I'm two volumes into The Starman Omnibus, and surprised that so far nobody's made any dick jokes about Jack's Cosmic Rod.

This is probably reading too much into it, but “…overcomes the forces of gravity…”?

Geez, Ted's wife leaves her vibrator lying around and the men decide its some kind of magic tool. Wait, it IS a magic tool!

I love how the other men are just so frightened…
“I don't want that thing near me! oh crap, I hope he doesn't shove that thing up my….”

Actually, the glowing purple head on the end of the sonic screwdriver
seems to support your idea.
But the Gravity Rod predates it, so there's that. Still, I'll add the
screw driver to my mental list.

Reminds me more of an old curtain rod we had, just with a bigger end. But then, the only “toys” I deal with are Transformers.

A nunchuk made out of a pair of marital aids? I'm guessing that's been featured in a pornographic ninja comic somewhere…
