MiLF –Cool. KiLF? Not So Much!
We had a Doctor Fate toy when I was a kid. I had no idea who the heck he was, but there was just something visually cool about him. Someone must agree, because Doctor Fate keeps getting rebooted.
The original Doctor Fate was Kent Nelson, who was with his archeologist dad at a dig in Egypt (because, that’s why) when a trap killed him. Originally, the wizard Nabu took pity on him and raised him as his own. Post Crisis it was “revealed” that Nabu actually was responsible for the elder Nelson’s demise, and that he then magically aged young Kent, so really he was just an eight year old.
In the post Crisis Fate Series, Kent and Inza Nelson (his wife) are dead and there’s going to be a new Doctor Fate, Eric Straus. I lost some of my scans, but the gist is that Eric is a little kid, who has a very close bond with his step-mommy. Not, however as close as Mommy Linda would like. Nabu hyper-ages Eric and…

Ew, am I right?

That’s from the third issue.
Keep in mind that “the moment I laid eyes on you” involved Eric being about seven, then re-read it.
Seriously messed up. I want to make jokes, but the early issues of Fate really are all about a woman who is obsessed with boinking her underage step-son, both before and after he’s physically (but not – and the plot clearly states this – emotionally or mentally) aged to an adult.
I had a lot more examples, but I’m kind of glad I lost them.
