A friend of mine is in the middle of a Title Search for a house and came across this gem in the old Deed:

If you don’t see it, it’s A Covenant to not sell any lots of “Lordship Manor” to Hebrews… aka Jews.

    Most old titles in the southern US have restrictive covenants disallowing African-Americans from living on the property, other than as servants. Here in Canada our restrictive covenants are much less interesting – there’s one that covers the entire northeast quadrant of one city prohibiting buildings of over 10 metres in height. Apparently they usually do that with zoning restrictions elsewhere.

    Sadly these are as commom as Blurgle said. I’m not sure what the percent is now but it used to be that two of the nine Supreme Court justices owned houses with covenants not to sell to nonwhites. These are no longer enforced but are basically legal artifacts.
