I may annoy people with this one, but I have a beef with Amazing Spider-Man V2 #35.
That’s right, the 9-11 issue.
Don’t get me wrong, I think addressing “where were the heroes when the towers fell?” wasn’t a terrible idea (even if it does fly in the face of comics as escapist literature, but that’s basically done and over with). I just have one minor, teensy tiny quibble.
The “bad guys” page.
For those who aren’t Marevelites, let’s review these figures:
1) Wilson Fisk, who is involved in child prostitution, drugs, and just about every crime you can imagine.
2) Doctor Octopus, a multiple-time murderer who once hid behind Aunt May’s skirt.
3) The Juggernaut, who actually held the Twin Towers hostage in a Spider-man/X-force crossover. Beyond that he’s destroyed countless lives.
4) Magneto, who’s a former terrorist himself.
The coup de grace is Doctor Doom?crying.
This is the same Doctor Doom that once launched the Baxter Building, with all the tenants/residents, into space, just to get at four people.
Yeah, know what?
These guys don’t “mourn the random deaths of innocents”. They cause them.
This was a stupid idea. Just idiotic. Why would you have a bunch of mass murderers mourning a terror strike? It’s poor taste, at best.
Someone on livejournal put it best ?
“TERROR MAKES DOOM CRY!”
