So THAT’S Where He Got The Idea!

One of the most interesting modes of transportation for a Silver Age hero turns out to have Golden Age roots:

I always loved the Bad Science of the Silver Age Atom traveling through the telephone wire, and like it even more now.

TELEPHONES DO NOT WORK THAT WAY.

There was an ep of Batman Brave and the Bold where Atom did the same thing and confused the heck out of Aquaman. *lol*
  • Dr. Novakaine
I wonder how the Spectre would do this in today's world, where cell phones have become the primary phone source for many people.
  • He'd handle it exactly the same as seen here. Remember, being in radio contact is just like having a wire attached, to the point of channeling lightning bolts from your remote-controlled robot into your hidden base.
  • Who drew this? A five year old? Or has the Spectre travelled to a world full of disfigured mutants?
  • Naryldor
Well, what did you expect of a world were people don't freak out at the sight of tights-clad little men creeping in or out of phones' handsets?

Is it just me, or does the Spectre look just like the Phantom with a cape?
  • Guys? The Spectre is magic. Making fun of the science in the strip is kind of beside the point.
  • If he's a ghost, he's supposed to be non-corporal so why does he have to shrink himself? He has no substance... That's some bad "ghost-science". And ghost or not, telephones do not work that way.
