Spider-Man Cliché Time.
I have a theory –eyesight works differently in comic books and movies.
Why is that? Because, as the below panel will testify, people in comics only seem to have direct line-of-site vision, with no peripheral vision at all.
In the real world, that guard would move back two steps and see Doctor Octopus, plain as day.
This is a constant Spider-Man cliché, often with much lower ceilings, which makes even less sense.
It was also in the first movie.
This post has been preset for your enjoyment. I’m probably getting ready for synagogue about now.
