Subtext

The following subtext is brought to you by Jason Todd’s envy of Batman spending time with Catwoman instead of him:

Robin’s jealousy would come out as not so odd, if it weren’t for Batman’s behavior.

Batman can’t just talk to Jason, oh no. Instead he steals bits of the boy’s clothing to lure him down to their special place.

Wrong. Just wrong.

Is it just me or Jason’s did so well in his workout that he managed to awfully dislocate Batman’s right shoulder?

Back to martian perspectives, I presume…

“Come and get your glove if you dare, Robin.

You’ll never know where I hid it.”

  • Dierna

    Poor Batman. He’s torn between 2 lovers….

By the way, isn’t that Martian close-up of Robin’s crotch inappropriate?

    “Hey, Alfie”

now i know why people hate Jason Todd.

Why does Jason need Alfred to let him into the Batcave? Is he too stupid to operate whatever little gadget they’re using as the trigger to the secret entrance this week?

  • Diagnull

Alfred is dusting so hard, the clock is smoking!

Also, at first I thought Robin was saying “When you get done dustin’, Grandpa…” Which seemed pretty rude to Alfred…

Michael, the grandfather clock that Alfred is dusting is the secret entrance.

Batman: (Picking up the glove)What tiny fingers – sigh – reminds me of the old days.

He’s only got one pair of gloves? Yet Batman has a rainbow suit for every day of the week! What gives?

Catwoman always made annoying ‘purr’ puns – I wonder if Batman did a similar thing but the frequency was too high for human ears? Sorry, I’m rambling.

And that’s one crappy glove. Five fingers, no thumb!

It’s interesting that Batman refers to Robin as Jason, but Catwoman is just that…Catwoman, not Selena. It’s kind of like if an actor dates an actress, but keeps calling her by one of her film role names, it seems to me. Yeah, no basis for the relationship falling to pieces there, huh?

By the by, speaking of Catwoman, DC has a new poster available by Adam Hughes, showing the ‘heavy hitter’ ladies of the DCU (dressed in skimpy evening gowns, of course). DC gave Hughes the list of women to use, but excluded Catwoman. Hughes added her anyone, on the left side. So, DC has just run the print as a two-page spread in this month’s comics, and what did they do? They just cut Catwoman off of the end. I don’t mean digitally removing her, they just cropped the picture…except that you can still see her arm there. According to Hughes, DC is canceling the Catwoman comic, and they no longer see her as a major character in the DCU, so they didn’t want to include her (and yet, they’ve got the new Batwoman, who’s already largely forgotten by fans, and Harley Quinn, who’s never really worked as a character outside of the old Batman cartoon, has she?)

Remember Robin ol’ chum… no glove no love…

    lol

  • Woodgatejack

Am I being overly pedantic or are both gloves left hand ones?

“Jason was STUNNING in his last workout.”

I think all attempts at subtext have just gone out the window.
