The Atom is Often Looked Down Upon.

I should have mentioned that All Star Comics #3 is the first appearance of the JSA. It’s not an actual team adventure, really. The JSA is portrayed as more of a “social club for heroes”, with them all sitting about, telling stories. What’s interesting are the below two introductions:

A few stories later, we have this:

Either Al wasn’t paying attention to the Sandman’s introduction, or he’s thinking

“Yeah? You at least have a gas gun. My shtick is that I’m short. Short and dressed like some kind of midget luchador!”

Oh, Atom's a college sophomore. Yeah, he was probably tuning out the guy in a suit out of habit.

Why does he go in his costume/disguise as he clearly immediately blows his own cover by revealing his identity?

Perhaps the JSA is like a convention: some of the members don't mind the others knowing their identity, but they're still going to wear their fursuits to the meetings. Er, superhero costumes, I mean.

Well to be fare Sandman said he had no Superhuman abilities while Atom said he didn't have any Supernatural abilities….

Either way their origins suck….till they actually got Superhuman and supernatural abilities…..

So he's sort of a smart-ass correcting other people?

  • Naryldor

A smart-ass and (yet another) flat crotch :D

  • Anderson

Thank God Wildcat wasn´t a member back then.

  • Wizard

Nah, most midget luchadors have much nicer costumes.

  • Dr. Novakaine

The Atom got a good redesign. Then again, pretty much anything is a good redesign from that.
