Wrap Your Head Around This

One of the problems with the Flash is that realistically, a normal crook against a super speedster is going to end up beaten to a pulp (or stripped to his underwear, as the case may be) before he can blink. Writers have two ways of dealing with it. Some ignore it to service the story, and then some try to think of ways around the problem.

Sometimes, I see the first group’s point.

Honestly, if he’d just said “magic” or “super science” glasses, I’d have let this go… but they tried to make it sound like actual science.

Oh G-d, it so isn’t…

You know he bought those through an ad in a comic book.

  • Dierna

Did he steal those glasses from a Gecko?

I still love how they say out loud what they are doing and what their gadgets are capable off. Let alone demonstrate what they do, when they are all alone in the room and know how it works.

So what's up with the villain's expression in panel two? Despite all the exclamation marks, he looks like he's bored out of his mind.

  • Naryldor

Still, how are those glasses going to help him anyway?

“Cool!! My speed and reflexes are still as fast as those of a super-tanker when compared with Flash's, but now at least I'll be able to see in detail how he beats the c**p out of me!”

  • Your Obedient Serpent

I guess the idea is kind of like using a strobe light to “freeze” motion.

    But, yeah. Ow.

So… in the story, do they WORK?

'”…coloured lenses that revolve in different directions” so if the Flash catches me I'll throw up on him!'
'Yeah, good idea chief. In the meanwhile maybe you could put the gun down, hmn?'
