One of the problems with the Flash is that realistically, a normal crook against a super speedster is going to end up beaten to a pulp (or stripped to his underwear, as the case may be) before he can blink. Writers have two ways of dealing with it. Some ignore it to service the story, and then some try to think of ways around the problem.
Sometimes, I see the first group’s point.
Honestly, if he’d just said “magic” or “super science” glasses, I’d have let this go… but they tried to make it sound like actual science.
