Fire Alarm just jostled us out of bed a few minutes to midnight. Scared the pants off of our kid, as you might imagine. We stood outside for almost half an hour before the Fire Department gave the all clear.
A bunch of people actually stopped to watch the fun.
“Oh, do you live here too?”
“No, I was just walking. isn’t it exciting?”
“Not for me. I live here.”
Insensitive much?
Only slightly more annoying were one set of neighbors who found the whole thing amusing and were taking pictures and laughing.
I was supposed to be up at 4 for work, but I called in. I probably won’t even get back to bed until 4 with this adrenalin rush. Heck, right now our daughter is chattering on about how she just learned fire safety again this week and isn’t that special and say I’m not sleepy at all now mommy…
As our Rabbi said last year when our pipes burst on Yom Kippur… it should be a Kaporah (act of penance)
