The ACLU Hates Superman

The JLA supervillian The Key has one of the worst costumes and least threatening names of any bad guy out there. Yet several times he does a pretty good job of almost beating the JLA. Like in issue #63.

You think I’m joking about the ACLU hating Superman, but then we jump a few decades later to issue #110!

I love how The Key is complaining that the judge was too lenient.

A lazy artist C&P’d Superboy’s head onto Superman in the right panel of the top image.  That’s what it looks like to me, anyway.
Also, it must be a requirement in the DCU that every villain has a theme.  I can’t imagine the Key would ever willingly take on that moniker and theme unless he had no choice.

The key’s costume is not only ridiculous, it’s also kind of creepy when you see it through a martian perspective, just take a look at the third panel, Superman seems to be lifting the corpse of a dude lobotomized with a gravestone. “Suspended animation”, yeah right, suspended permanently!

Hmm, suspended animation (a long, good sleep) versus 20 years-to-life?  I’d take the suspended animation.

Didn’t Superman send villians to the Phantom Zone from time to time? Or as the ACLU calls it “the Astral Gitmo.”

Please tell me his secret identity is not John Locke!
